Album Info:These are pictures of a Loram ballast cleaner I chased from Albion, IL to Centralia, IL. (The originals are a little better quality.) I met Gary Blaylock, the General Superintendent of Loram, at Walnut Hill, IL when the machine pulled into a spur. I sent him some of my pics & he sent me some info on BC4. "We were traveling from Princeton, IN that morning to St.Louis, MO to get on UPRR. That day we made E. St. Louis TeriminalRR. The machine has two engines one for hyduralics, which drives machine and runs digging wheels. The other powers electricity whichs runs conveyer belts and lights. We ended up traveling the machine to Hastings, NE, which took another week and one day. In all it took 3 weeks and 1 day to go from Bluefield, WV to Hastings,NE."

Description:  The pipe at the lower left of the 'digger' wheel is the guide for the 'passenger side' wheel. This pipe & another one in front (out of shot) kept the 'passenger side' 'digger' wheel stable as it was extended out from the vehicle. The set for the 'drivers side' wheel was below this set.

Description:  There were two air intakes, one on each side of the cab, for the diesel engines. The exhaust was in the center. The trucks on this vehicle were the only ones powered & used gearboxes & driveshafts.
